This water lily was given to me by the same friend who was almost ready to abandon it. When he offered it to me, I wasn’t sure whether I should take it.
The plant was in poor condition and had nearly dried up. I hesitated—should I take it home and try to save it, or should I leave it behind?

Water lilies aren’t cheap; anyone who loves gardening knows their special magic. When it blooms, it brings a sense of serenity and pure joy that is hard to describe. Deep down, I couldn’t bear to see it thrown away. So, despite my hesitation, I decided to adopt her and bring her home.

I regret not snapping a photo on the very first day she arrived home, but as soon as I placed her in her new spot and started caring for her, I began documenting her journey.

**Month by month, the transformation was incredible: **
-
The Early Days: I trimmed away the damaged foliage, adjusted water conditions, and gave her time to settle
-
3 Months In: Fresh, vibrant, green pads started pushing up to the water’s surface. The yellowing spots vanished, replaced by smooth, glossy leaves
*** 6 Months to Today**: She didn’t just survive - she completely thrived!
Now, six months later, this once-dying plant rewards me every single day. She produces stunning white petals tipped with delicate purple-violet edges and bright golden centers. On most days, I am greeted by two or three full blooms sitting proudly among lush green leaves.
Taking a chance on a struggling plant reminded me of why I love gardening so much. Plants have an incredible resilience if you give them the right environment and a little patience. What started as a hesitant adoption has become one of the most rewarding spots in my garden!
