Two or three years ago, during the New Year season, Camellias were very popular. I remember seeing them and being immediately attracted to their beautiful flowers. They were not exactly cheap. In fact, I hesitated for a while because of the price.
But sometimes, when you really love something, it is difficult to walk away. So I bought two. One was a large plant and the other was a medium-sized one. I brought them home without really knowing how well they would adapt to my garden or how they would perform in our Malaysian climate.
Today, two to three years later, I am so glad I did. Both plants are still growing very well, and when they flower, they reward me with these beautiful pink blooms. 🌺
What I particularly enjoy about my Camellias is that I find them relatively easy to care for compared with my Adeniums, which prefer less water but need plenty of sunlight; my Camellias seem much easier for me to manage in my garden.
Looking at them flowering today, I sometimes think back to the day I bought them.
They were a little expensive. I bought them simply because I loved them. And two or three years later, they are still giving me reasons to smile. Perhaps that is one of the little joys of gardening. Not every purchase needs a practical reason.
Sometimes, if something makes your heart happy, that can be reason enough. ❤️
